Many patients come to Dr. Rajagopal after losing a significant amount of weight, or after gastric bypass bariatric surgery. While they are pleased with their smaller size, many are unhappy with the extra, sagging skin and tissue they are unable to get rid of.
The solution to this problem is a major surgical body lift procedure, sometimes done in multiple stages, to remove excess skin and fat from the the sagging areas, and tighten the surrounding muscles. This procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen, sagging back, buttocks, arms or thighs.
Lower Body Lift, also referred to as a belt lipectomy, “lifts” excess, hanging skin that is left on the lower body after massive weight loss. For patients who also have excess skin around the lateral thighs and buttocks region, Dr. Rajagopal can tighten and flatten the buttock, lateral thighs, and abdomen in one surgical procedure.
Body lift procedures are not weight loss procedures, so patients should wait until they have reached their goal weight before pursuing any type of body “lift” surgery, which also includes tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and upper arm lift surgery.
