Empowering Sexual Wellness: Flourishing After 50
Why are women having more and better sex after 50?
In today's age, there is a growing awareness and acceptance of the importance of self-care, extending beyond skincare routines to include intimate wellness. Women over 50 are increasingly prioritizing their sexual well-being, seeking treatments that contribute to a fulfilling and satisfying sexual life. 50 is the new 30 because our longevity and lifespan have increased for men and women. I believe we need to have a normal healthy sex life even after the age of 50. There are so many new treatments available for women for a lot of issues that start occurring around menopause or after menopause.
The O Shot, a revolutionary treatment that utilizes platelet-rich plasma (PRP), has shown remarkable success in enhancing sexual sensation and satisfaction. As women age, factors such as hormonal changes can impact arousal and pleasure. The O Shot serves as a rejuvenating solution, promoting tissue regeneration and increased sensitivity.
What advice do you have for older women who are not?
For those experiencing changes in sexual function, non-invasive treatments such as the The O Shot can be considered. This innovative procedure utilizes platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to rejuvenate and enhance sexual sensation, potentially contributing to a more satisfying intimate experience. For women facing physical discomfort or aesthetic concerns, transformative treatments like Labiaplasty can be explored. These procedures are designed to address specific concerns and enhance both comfort and confidence. Consulting with a qualified healthcare professional or sexual health expert is essential. They can provide personalized advice, address any underlying health concerns, and explore appropriate solutions tailored to individual needs.
What are the common sex-related issues that arise for women in their later years?
Vaginal dryness which can cause painful intercourse. Treatments for this issue can be as simple as getting some prescription estrogen cream that should be applied to the vaginal area. Other long term treatments include getting The O Shot to the vagianl area that can improve collagen and moisture. Another great treatment is the FemiLift laser. This also improves moisture in the vaginal area in order to make sex much less painful. Changes in vaginal laxity and sensation can be experienced, impacting both physical comfort and emotional well-being. Addressing these concerns requires a personalized approach. The O Shot, utilizing platelet-rich plasma (PRP), offers a non-invasive solution to rejuvenate and enhance sexual sensation. For those facing physical discomfort or aesthetic concerns, Labiaplasty can provide transformative results, enhancing both function and appearance. Another issue women may have is a urinary stress incontinence and this is because of weakness of the pelvic floor. This can be addressed very easily and effectively with the emsella treatment. The emsella treatment uses HIFEM technology and non invasively strengthens the pelvic floor muscles. The treatments are usually short 30 minute treatments that we offer and have the patients do twice a week for three weeks to improve the pelvic floor strength. As the women's pelvic floor muscles get stronger they are able to achieve better orgasims along with decrease in their urinary symtoms.
It is really important for women to see a medical professional who specializes in this. In my practice, me being a plastic surgeon, I have a seperate part of my practice which is called the V Suite we treat all things related to the vulva and vaginal area for women.
What are some remedies?
For the dryness it could be using a lubricant approved for the vagina. It can be an estrogen cream. The FemiLift laser can help with the dryness issues. For laxity or the closeness this can be addressed with emsella treatment if the muscles are weak. It can also be addressed via surgery where we can do some surgical tightening of the vagina to make it feel and appear less loose. And then to address the appearance it can be surgical or non surgical. A non surgical treatment to tighten the skin in the vulva area and the perineal area is called a vaginal facial that tightens the skin to help make it appear more youthful.
I think it is a shame that I am starting to see advertisements for urinary incontinence diapers for women. Women shouldn't have to resort to wearing diapers when there are more effective treatments such as the emsella treatment and FemiLift to improve pelvic floor strength.
How can women find agency within their own sexuality?

Transformative treatments, such as Labiaplasty and the O Shot, can offer solutions for physical comfort and enhanced sexual sensation. These procedures are designed to address specific concerns and empower women to feel more confident and comfortable in their bodies. Consult with healthcare professionals or sexual health experts who can provide personalized advice and guidance. What should women begin with?
It depends on the woman's symptoms. I think she should go seek information from a healthcare provider that specializes in this. It can be a plastic surgeon or gynecologist, who specializes in women's sexual health issues.
