Sex reassignment surgery (SRS) involves multiple procedures and can be performed on males or females who are transitioning into the opposite gender, respectively.
Male to Female (MTF) Transformation
Surgery on the top half of the body may involve breast augmentation, and rhinoplasty which can provide a more feminine appearance. Other options are facial fillers and a lip lift. Liposuction and Laser hair removal is an additional procedure to create a more feminine physique.

Dr. Rajagopal will work with patients individually to find the gender appropriate nose that will fit their new aesthetic appearance. Read more about rhinoplasty here.
Lip Lift for MTF Transformation
Female upper lips are usually shorter than male upper lips and expose the upper teeth. This trait is also a sign of youthfulness. This procedure may be done to feminize facial features of the patient. Dr. Rajagopal creates an incision right underneath the nose and removes a piece of skin and muscle(shaped like a bull horn). The remaining skin is stitched together, resulting in a more feminized appearance. If you’re in the process of considering a lip lift, short term options include lip fillers. Sex reassignment surgery is often performed as a part of the entire process to change someone’s look, which comprises multiple surgeries. The timing and overall cost differs depending on several physical and physiological factors.
Are there risks?
For vaginoplasty involving male to female transformation, it is important that you choose your surgeon carefully, or else there are serious risks of infection, bleeding, postoperative pain, and loss of some of the grafted skin.
Complications associated with the sex reassignment surgery are rectovagina fistula, a condition where a hole develops between the colon and the vagina, pulmonary thromboembolism and extensive bleeding. Temporary inability to urinate and wound disruptions can also occur after the surgery. It all depends upon the surgeon, their prior experience, and skill, so make well-informed decisions.
Men who have always felt like prisoners in their current body can undergo male to female sex reassignment surgery as it gives them a new lease in life and let them adapt to a lifestyle of their choice.
Who is a candidate for sex reassignment surgery (SRS)?
Candidates for transgender surgery understand their gender identity. Patients must be at least 18 years old, responsible, and display stable mental health. Patients must understand the benefits and risks of hormone therapy. Patients must have a minimum of 12 months of real life experience in their new gender identity.
