Treatment for acne scars can vary depending on the extent and severity of the patients’ scarring. Generally speaking, treatment consists of a combination of topical treatments and procedures. “Fresh” scars that are still red and hyper pigmented scars (dark spots) can often be treated with microdermabrasion, Refinity peels, or bleaching cream.
Micro-dermabrasion (also called a power peel) and laser skin resurfacing are non-invasive cosmetic procedures that refinish the look and texture of the skin. Multiple treatments are necessary for optimum results. Bellafill® is approved for the correction of moderate to severe, atrophic, distensible facial acne scars on the cheek in patients over the age of 21 years.
