Bethenny Frankel Opens Up About Breast Surgery
Bethenny Frankel (of Housewives of New York fame) is not one to shy away from honesty, even when it comes to personal topics. The most recent thing she opened up about? Plastic surgery. On her new talk show, Bethenny, Frankel talked about her years-long struggle to become comfortable with her body—in particular, her breasts. “I was in high school and probably about 30 pounds heavier and my boobs used to sag. They were bigger and they were saggy,” she said. But losing the weight—which she did in her late 20s and early 30s—didn’t solve the problem with her breasts. They did become smaller as she shed her extra pounds, but they continued to sag, which made her feel self-conscious.
Ultimately, at a friend’s urging, Frankel went to a plastic surgeon. She initially had an augmentation performed, because she was nervous about the size of the scars she might end up with if she got a breast lift. The D-cup implants weren’t right for her, though—she felt they were too big—so, a couple of years later, she went back to have the implants removed and get a breast lift. Now, she says, her breasts look great, and she feels “a little hotter, you know, a little perkier.”
Frankel’s final word on breast surgery is that it’s all about doing what will make you feel good about your body: “If you want to do it, it doesn’t matter if you’re going to have scars. If you want to do it and you can afford it, look into it safely. You have to do what you really want.”
I couldn’t agree more.
