Are Plumping Parties Safe?
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times—having anyone but a board-certified plastic surgeon perform medical cosmetic procedures on your body is asking for trouble. The latest rage to be sweeping the nation, however, are plumping parties …a gathering in which people have their buttocks injected with something in order to give themselves a bigger, rounder posterior.
You may have noticed that I said “injected with something.” The reason I’m using such a vague term here is the fact that in many cases, it’s unclear what it is exactly that is being used for these injections. Since the people running these things don’t aren’t part of the medical community, there’s no one to hold them accountable—which means that they’re putting stuff like tire sealant, baby oil, and other inappropriate (and sometimes toxic) substances in the syringes they’re using. If these kinds of substances enter the bloodstream and travel to your lungs or heart, you may be hospitalized—and you could even die.
Really, the only substance that should ever be injected into your butt is your own fat (and even then only after it has been safely extracted and purified, as in a Brazilian butt lift)—and the only person who should ever perform a procedure like that is a licensed, board-certified plastic surgeon. If you truly want to change something, schedule a free consultation with a doctor, don’t go to plumping parties!
