How Can I Preserve the Effects of My Facelift?

There is no foolproof way to keep your skin perfect forever—if there were, there would be no need for procedures like facelifts!—but there are some things that you can do following facial cosmetic treatments to preserve the results and keep your skin looking healthy for longer.

1. Use retinoid creams. Retinoids are products derived from vitamin A that have been shown to reduce fine wrinkles, splotchy pigmentation, and skin roughness. A regular regimen of retinoid cream application can help keep the wrinkles at bay for longer.

2. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. This means wearing (strong) sunscreen, and staying in the shade whenever possible! This is especially important if you’re using retinoids, because they can make your skin more susceptible to burning.

3. Keep a healthy lifestyle. Reducing your alcohol and nicotine intake, eating healthy food, and exercising regularly will improve your overall health and keep your face looking more youthful.

4. Get touch-ups. Once you’ve had a facelift, it makes it much easier to maintain your looks with an ongoing course of less invasive cosmetic treatments (Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Dysport, etc.).

If you take the right measures to preserve the results, one facelift should be all you need! If you’re interested in speaking in more depth about facelift procedure and recovery, set up a free consultation at my offices any time.
